Working with Schools

BIEPA is involved in working with the local schools to enhance environmental learning, wherever possible.

 

This year, a manual arts class made nesting boxes for trees in Bongaree, with a template provided by BIEPA.

 

We sponsor awards at school awards nights for students who have shown promise in environmental learning and application. We also assist with programs and with information. BIEPA assisted high school students with their annual community group project. Two students chose BIEPA as their community organisation to research. The girls gathered huge amounts of information and made an excellent display for their project.

We helped the Birdwing Butterfly Conservation Network and children from Banksia Beach State School plant Birdwing Butterfly vines in a forested area of their school.This will to help fill the gap in vine plantings in south-east Queensland. This project continues as BIEPA looks for opportunities to plant more vines, making Bribie Island a viable area for Bridwing Butterflies to lay eggs.
